Gadri Resto is a restaurant that was founded by GBPH Joyokusuman in 1984. GBPH Joyokusuman is the younger brother of Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. Gadri Resto especially presenting Javanese culinary, in accordance with its vision to preserve Java traditional recipes amid modernity era. The recipes are used comes from through their generations which has been recorded by BRAy. Nuraida Joyokusumo, Gusti Joyokusumo's wife.
Gadri Resto located on Jl. Rotowijayan no.5 Kraton, at the west of Kraton exactly. This restaurant is the residence of Gusti Joyokusuman. Restaurants are in the hall of the house, whereas in the space or living room set up as a family museum that contains personal collections such as handicrafts, traditional clothing and various other ancient collections. In Gadri Resto, you can also see a batik exhibition space, even if you come at lunchtime, you can learn how to make batik with batik professional guidance in there.
The typical menu in here is Nasi Blawong (Blawong Rice). Nasi Blawong is white rice mixed with various spices equipped with Daging Kethok Lombok, Galingale Fried Chicken, Egg Fried Cooking Pindang and also Peyek Ikan Teri (Crispy Anchovy).
In Gadri Resto, they also serve Gudeg as a menu. But of course the taste is different from the other Gudeg. In this place, Gudeg is not wet and not dry and feels very soft. Sweet, spicy, so savory but not clashing, also sambal goreng krecek (fried spicy sauce) not too spicy and the chicken curry was not too sweet.
There is also a menu Gurami Lombok Kethok (Gurami Fish), Nasi Langgi (Langgi Rice), Nasi Punar (Rice Punar), and others. Typical dessert available here is Manuk Nom. Manuk Nom contain of green glutinous tapai (traditional fermented food) mixed with liquid milk and eggs, then it's steamed, and served with belinjo chips. There is also a Prawan Kenes menu which made of yellow banana, halved and fastened using pandanus leaves and clamped with bambo and then steamed.
The most famous drink here is Java Beer which one of Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX's favorite beverage and also Secang (Netton). Java beer made from a variety of spices such as ginger, pepper, cup, lemon and others. It can be served warm or cold.
